Pros

There is absolutely no plus side to working for Lee, especially not in their Nebraska offices. It isn't even worth the media industry experience. Do not apply here.

Cons

High stress. Low pay. Homophobic leadership. (I personally made the regional management aware of homophobic remarks made by the Fremont Tribune interim publisher, and then I quit. After my departure, he left the company for a brief period, then was rehired as the full publisher for TWO of the eastern Nebraska papers.) No job security, positions get eliminated with no notice and no severance. Additional job duties are forced on you with no pay increase. I was hired to do one job, and by the time I quit, five other positions spanning 3 departments had been condensed into my one position. Their "hourly categories" skirt the law on health insurance benefits. The insurance benefits are nearly impossible to afford on the wages they give you.

Pros

You get a fair amount of time off after a certain amount of years, I believe it caps out at four weeks of vacation. Also they offer health insurance, it's not the greatest, but it's also not the worst.

Cons

Where to start! So in my department our supervisor doesn't have our backs or supports us. You're constantly treated like you're trying to get one over on the company. Also there are favorites being played all the time, if you aren't in the up and up and sucking up you're treated like a worker bee. In my department we're salaried so that means you HAVE to work a minimum of 45+ hours a week, our supervisor doesn't respect our personal time at all and expects us to constantly be willing to come in and work 24/7. If you have open routes in your district you're threatened with having to work seven days a week until all your routes are filled. I think I'll just leave it here, because I could go on for days.
