      The clients and relationships built were great, and knowing that as a consultant you made a difference in a small business owners day.

      Someone cared at one point about this industry and the people it represented but now all they care is about is money.

      Long term relationships with customers, although that is weakened dramatically over the last 10 years

      Your typical OLD SCHOOL corporation, though a bit extreme. Politics rule here more so than most companies I have had experience with. The majority of the executives and newspaper publishers spend most of their time trying to save their jobs at the expense of those that are really working to save the company. Depressing environment with little growth opportunity. Dual roles given to individuals and disguised as promotions. Zero real innovation, very little training, no raises in years, and increased workloads! All while you are fighting the slide of a dying industry and paid less than you could make at the competitors. Why would you?
