Pros

Rewarding work, nice colleagues, great trial experience. It is a huge organization with +1k attorneys, so vast wealth of resources in different areas of law. Unionized, great benefits.

Cons

Management can be unfriendly and not know how to manage, promotions within the organization are decided by nepotism, often positions for appeals and special litigation positions are not even posted but rather the head of the practice decides who gets those jobs. The hiring process for new attorneys needs to be streamlined so that we do not lose the best candidates to other non profits.

Big ideas with no support

Pros

Given this is a non-profit organization, obviously the mission and work done here can be inspiring. The poorest citizens are given access to quality legal advocacy at no cost. People are saved from debt collectors, evictions, and medical debt. Additionally, the Guardian ad Litem program assists abused, abandoned, and neglected children

Cons

As the title implies, you may bring a lot of big ideas and high hopes, but you will receive very little support. This company is very backward and old-fashioned in their approaches to fundraising. There is no online presence. It is not seen as a necessity. Very little opportunity for growth unless you go to law school. A lot of nepotism going on.
