Pros

Union = great benefits, Higher starting salary than many other places.

Cons

Social workers and support staff have little ability to make a good salary and you will continuously hear employees discuss that. Management is just administrative, don't think you'll learn much from your supervisor. They are losing people of color by the minute and don't seem to care.

Pros

The job allows a lot of autonomy. Others may offer suggestions and advice but, at the end of the day, It's your case. You handle it how you see fit.

Cons

The office can be very clique-ish and unfriendly at times. This is exacerbated by Supervisors who tend to have "favorites," which often leaves the unpopular folks to fend for themselves. Also, there is little in the way of overall support...even from the support staff.
