Pros

Work from home, Provided with equipment, Good managers but they are over worked and understaffed

Cons

Upper management and CEO laid off a ton of people and brought in a third party company to do the work of experienced reps who understood the state requirements and items that customers needed to run their business smoothly. Making changes to the website with out seeing how it would impact the customer experience and making it harder for them to find anything without having to click thru to 10 different areas. They let go of coaches and basically said go somewhere else or get a lower position in the company. So now the managers are doing the work of like 5 people. There are no real incentives anymore and pay keeps getting changed frequently and even some people who were not paid comission when they were brought from a different team. JUST TO MAKE THE SHAREHOLDERS happy. Legalzoom was better before it went public.

Pros

The employees give their all, and really want to make a difference.

Cons

Within two weeks of starting at LZ Tax, the culture went from open integrity and honest communication to a fearful dark place. The founder was set aside and everyone clammed up. After 5 months of dedicated work at LZ Tax, I, along with 58 other tax professionals were let go in a 15 minute Zoom meeting. We didn’t see it coming, and were ambushed one morning at the beginning of July. The only explanation given for this rather tacky layoff method boiled down to bad decisions made at the top level. They are now hiring again. Stay away; they do not value employees or honor them; as we are treated as easily replaceable objects.

Pros

LegalZoom is a great company for team diversity and inclusion.

Cons

It's become very clear that the only way to advance within the company is to come from outside. People with a fraction of experience to existing people will be hired in to high level positions because they are a friend of a friend or come from a company other leaders came from. Then they'll leave within a year for the next career hop, becoming directors or VPs in only 5 years or so. People left behind who have to pick up the pieces, work the job of 3 or more people due to staffing cuts, who are loyal to their working team, will get penalized for not being able to do every job flawlessly. Doesn't matter if you're smashing goals. You can fail to meet some unclear checkbox by inexperienced managers and lose 100% of your bonus with no warning.
