Pros

When your shift ends you can relax without worrying about taking your work home with you. It's honest work and when you get good at it, you'll find yourself able to look after others and build leadership skills. If you can manage to make a name for yourself here, you can make it anywhere. Lower/middle management is very friendly and makes an effort to help when they're not drowning in work themselves. 4 day shifts and 3 day weekends is really nice, but you'll probably spend 1 of them just recovering from the intensity of the work week.

Cons

Since I've started here, the workload has only ever increase for operators. Your workload will continue to increase, likely without any meaningful compensation or promotion to sustain your growth in the company. So long as you have the bandwidth you're going to be worked until the very end of the day. Upper management is extremely disconnected from the state of operations and does little to help/show no concern for the well being of their main work force. You're expected to work holidays unless you use your PTO to take them off. The result of all this is of course, a very poor and demeaning culture.

Pros

Used to be a great place to work

Cons

They’re switching to a 24 hr business model in September. There’s no issue with that. However all of operations will only be being bumped up to a 15% differential for working 5pm-6am instead of 12% for 1pm-1am. On the other hand every other department working third shift times will be making 18%, such as technical support and facilities. Meanwhile tech support works from home 90% of the time and gets 18%. Upper managements response is well they’re working less hours and all of third shift while operations is a hybrid of second and third shift. Disclaimer… operations works some of second shift and ALL of third shift. What a horrible response. They aren’t giving current second shift opportunities for displacement at other positions, and when asked “what about our families etc, did you consider that?” Upper management’s response was well you’re more than welcome to look for other opportunities elsewhere.

Pros

No pros but management will use the disguise of caring about patients/patient lives as the end all be all benefit of the job

Cons

-Blatant and obvious favoritism goes on QC and management just fuels it by hiring and promoting their friends - high turn over rate that continuously goes unaddressed and leads to short staffing - Going to HR regarding sexism, harassment and racism ends with the offender being promoted - Boys Club Company - Negative work environment that encourages lying, accepting invalid data and inappropriate work place relationships - They say they offer career growth, guidance and work life balance but, thats only for office employees - If you are unfortunate enough to be in a lab, don’t expect to participate in any work events or activities because management wont let you out of the lab for longer than maybe 1 hr (if you are lucky) during your 12.5 hrs shift - Company won’t even recognize Lab Appreciation Week like most labs do but throws a week long Bring Your Child to Work event that once again, lab employees miss out on - expect to be asked to work overtime and major holidays like Christmas - expected to come in even during hazardous conditions like this past blizzard with no hazard pay - continuous changes to processing and day to day tasks that makes the work more difficult, take longer and results in more mistakes that they then yell at everyone for - even management admits to not knowing what they are doing but wont promote or hirer anyone qualified who does - will make you spend months trying to implement a failing project instead of saving time and money to focus on actual improvements
