Pros

• Meaningful work: we help keep illicit and dangerous products off the internet • Collaborative culture: co-workers are kind, helpful, and hard-working • Great benefits: competitive salary with solid benefits and generous time off • Remote-optional: be fully remote or come into the office as you choose • Optimal size: while remote work makes it harder to know everyone, the company is small enough to meet most people and feel like you won't get lost

Cons

• Aggressive growth targets can be stressful

Thank you for sharing your feedback! It's truly gratifying to learn that you see value in the work we do at LegitScript, I do as well! Even though growth can be challenging, we are fortunate to collaborate with exceptional individuals and offer what we believe is a compelling total compensation/rewards package. Pros

Wonderful coworkers, love that strategies change all the time as trends change, never bored. Love that everyone on our team has a unique background/education. Really helps make us a dynamic team! Collaboration with other teams is very easy- they've always been very nice and willing to go above and beyond. At least on my team, I do feel management cares about us. One of the directors from way up the hierarchy and the new president wanted to have a check-in with me since and see how I was fitting in/growing in my role. I also feel as though LegitScript has been very quick to respond to the pandemic and has put the employees' safety and work/life balance as a priority as well as compensating us for our impromptu home offices.

Cons

I feel like I am paid a little low for my STEM education + hard skills +experience, (In addition, lower end of compliance analyst salary for Portland, OR according to Glassdoordotcom.) but at the very least, I can definitely grow here and feel as though I am an important contributor to our team. Also, I have heard scary things (reviews below) about other analyst positions and from that all I can gather is that it really depends which team you are on. My team happens to be wonderful, curious, and able to explore our investigative curiosities and celebrate our triumphs but some of our other larger teams-I hear they are over worked and under appreciated for their efforts.

Pros

Great work-life balance, support for employees, intellectually stimulating and engaging work, in-house training program, possibilities for advancement

Cons

I've been working at LegitScript for more than 8 years. Looking back so far, it has been a very rewarding career for me both in terms of experience, intellectual stimulation, and possibilities for upward advancement. Analysts start with an extensive in-house training program which is amazing knowing that we operate in a highly specialized industry. The work we do is intellectually stimulating because we are constantly at the forefront of identifying new criminal trends and patterns. It's common we get to read in the news of work we have done to go against illegal activity. Analysts are trained to think like a criminal and use the best of their abilities to make a difference. Sure, I started at a relatively low salary back in 2012 but the company has provided me every opportunity for upwards mobility and career growth. Besides that, the benefits package often goes unnoticed but is very generous compared to what I hear from people working at other companies. (For years, LegitScript has either lowered or kept insurance cost the same while maintaining a great coverage, matches people's 401k contribution and FSA accounts.) I've been cross trained on basically every team in the company and even got the ability to grow out of the analyst team and into an assistant director role on the client partnerships team. That has not always come easy or quick but being invested and giving your best to the company never goes unnoticed. The company spends a lot of time on building a healthy company culture and listening to employee input. Working at LegitScript has been a great career for me and I recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting and rewarding job.

Comfortable Workplace

Pros

FTO - Flexible time off. Instead of having to do PTO where you earn it, Legistscript offers flexible time to take off instead. Its very nice for planning things and not stressing about having enough PTO to cover. Flexible work time - They are so understanding about real life and things that happen outside of the workplace. You can easily shift your schedule to go to appointments or if you need a couple of hours to just break and come back. Work - Pleasantly kept busy most of the time! It's really nice to have something to fill the time but not feel overwhelmed or doing more than one person's job. Coming from retail for 15 years, it was nice not to be expected to do 60 hours of work in 40 hours. Salary Pay - No more stressing about making hours or pays being off or shifted. I hated it in retail and having salary pay is so nice. Friendly coworkers/enviroment - It's a very casual and friendly environment! Everyone is willing to help out and we have fun chats about things!

Cons

Again, coming from retail, I don't really have a lot of cons about this place. Legitscript was a really good improvement from my old jobs so I am very satisfied!

Low morale, unfair compensation

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Remote work, good training resources, professional and hardworking colleagues.

Cons

Salaries way below market. They've been promising to improve on that front for years, but the employee surveys are simply not listened to. There's a lot of possibilities for growth - growth of responsibilities, stress and workload, not of incentives or compensation. Morale is at an all time low due to micromanagement.

Flexible working but at a cost

Pros

Flexible work schedule, WFH options

Cons

Salary too low to live comfortably. Company focuses on large scale and fast growth and development, at the expense of work/life balance and compensation for individual contributors. Execs seem far removed from the work and company mission. No incentives for hard work/lack of merit-based rewards. Limited opportunities to move up in roles.

Thank you for sharing your review. I’m glad that you are appreciative of the flexible work environment that we provide but do recognize that your overall experience has been poor. We are constantly reviewing our compensation strategies to ensure that we are competitive in the market, fair and equitable across our employee base, and also healthy as a business. Last year, to help employees with inflation, we gave a 5% increase across the board, then also did annual increases anywhere from 2-4% additional. We reward employee performance via spot bonuses, a general annual bonus for all positions, a 100% employer paid medical benefit option, immediate 401k vesting, a generous monthly work from home stipend, access to free Orange Theory Fitness and Yoga for Portland based employees, and much more. I’m sorry to hear that doesn’t meet your expectations. I believe that we are very mission oriented as a company and truly try to consider our mission in all decisions that we make. Our entire executive team is in the office every week, multiple times per week, connecting with employees as much as possible. Lastly, I meet with every single new hire and have offered an open door for feedback to ensure our leadership team is connected. I encourage you to set up some time with me as I am happy to hear your feedback directly on how we can better connect with our employees and our mission.

Pros

As far as the work itself goes, LegitScript is extremely interesting. It is by far the most interesting job I've ever had. You will have opportunities to learn and the skills you gain are very transferable. If you make a reasonable effort there are promotion opportunities within LegitScript as well, though you might have to fight for them. LegitScript's company culture and perks are still very good. It's all remote/hybrid and has been since before the pandemic. Work/life balance is great and you are highly encouraged to take the unlimited PTO offered. By far the best part about working at LegitScript is the people. It's the reason I stayed as long as I did and the reason I had a hard time leaving. Everyone you work with is interesting, funny, and kind. There were times when I felt like I was in college again, working while hanging out with all of my friends.

Cons

One of the biggest cons is salary. The job I left LegitScript for is similar but pays quite a bit more. The way leadership talks about valid salary concerns in meetings comes across as very dismissive. There can be issues with transparency and being unprepared for new clients or programs. Unreasonable expectations and high pressure to deliver without adequate resources are a common problem. That can make the work environment very unpleasant. This is mostly coming from leadership; direct managers tend to be more reasonable here. LegitScript has improved here in someways in recent years, but it is still a big issue.

Thank you for your honest and candid feedback. We appreciate hearing that you enjoyed the people, culture, and perks, especially the generous flex time off program we offer. Thank you for sharing your feedback on your salary concerns. We see it as a big win when employees grow into new roles, whether that is inside LegitScript or outside of our organization. We do take our compensation policy very seriously, ensuring it follows industry best practices to align our salaries with role-based industry benchmarks. We evaluate salaries annually and offer our bonus program and employee perks, to ensure our overall compensation package is competitive. We’re sorry to hear that you felt your experience here ended so negatively. We will continue to invest in technology, people, managers and process improvements to scale in a way that ensures our employees are supported and can maintain a great work life balance. We will definitely look into your particular situation to ensure that others don’t feel the same way. Lastly, we take claims of unethical practices very seriously. Do Not Work Here!

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Used to be a great company to work for. Was flexible. Now best parts of the job are the remote work and the other analysts. Coworkers and lower management are all great.

Cons

Do not work here. This is a sinking ship. Everything that made this company worth working for has been slowly stripped away. We used to have 6 weeks of flex time off but they took that away and stripped it to 4 weeks with only a single week of carryover. We were told in a highly passive aggressive email that it was the fault of new employees for using their time off too soon that the policy was changed. We used to be salaried with highly flexible schedules but they switched us to hourly. We were somewhat ok with this as we were guaranteed 2 hours of overtime. They have recently taken the overtime away as well for cost cutting. We're the ones who need that money to feed ourselves and pay rent, not this multi million dollar company that boasts about their profits on a regular basis. If you live on the West Coast where this company is based, the salaries are unsustainably low. Don't even think of working here if you are on a single income, you won't make it. There is very little opportunity for upward mobility and when you are promoted, the promotion pay raise just takes the place of your annual pay raise meaning you would have made around the same amount more if you were promoted or not. The company recently hired on a contractor as a permanent manager who has since begun laying off beloved coworkers. These were incredibly hard working employees who were replaced by people the company feels they can pay less while doing the work of multiple people. Finally, even if you ignore every previously made point, do not work here because the skills are not transferable. This is largely not a tech company. Analysts are doing hourly grunt work. There is little to no opportunity for career growth. You will work until you are burned out and then realize you have nowhere else to go because any similar companies require tech experience. P.s. I didn't even cover the lack of diversity, two faced upper management, or the lack of tech support (our systems have been broken on and off for months) but note these are also issues

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We genuinely value input from our team members, as it helps us understand where we can improve and how we can better support our employees. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the frustrations and dissatisfaction you have expressed regarding your experience. Companies have to evolve and change and we do our best to balance the well being of our employees with the needs of the business. We recognize that not everyone is going to be satisfied with our decisions or be comfortable with change, however, we do have many employees who feel differently than you do and love working at LegitScript. If you are open to it, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail and work together towards finding a possible solution that works for you. My door is always open.
