Pros

Leidos Health has some of the best consultants in the country and middle management that truly cares about them and their success.

Cons

SAIC (now Leidos) merged Vitalize Consulting Solutions and maxIT Healthcare Feb 2013 and within 6 months started laying off staff. Layoffs and resignations continue and the company is half in size. Lack of commercial health knowledge from the corporate side has allowed poor decisions to be made. The various departments operate in silos with much finger pointing and no leadership. Communication is limited at best creating an air of uncertainty and driving people away.

Pros

The benefits are good. Good health care and paid time off. When I worked there, you didn't have to wait 90 days or more for your health care and paid time off to kick in; that is a very good benefit.

Cons

The company has spent the last two years laying off a large portion of the staff. This seems to point to the fact that they may be in a bad business situation at this point in time. The company hasn't been the same since its founder, Dr. Robert Beyster left. It seems to be going through a lot of growing pains - for a long time.

Pros

I've worked for Leidos for a little over two years as a contractor. The other contractors are amazing people and our PM comes out to the customer site quite frequently. I feel that information from corporate is adequately passed down to us and timelines for training are completely reasonable.

Cons

The position I'm in is kind of a pigeon-hold. There's no room for any major growth unless I apply for a new position or my PM places me on a different contract. Also, the compensation is not competitive with the area or with other companies and contractors with similar experience. Our raises, if we actually receive one, aren't keeping up with the economy. Our medical benefits, I feel, are expensive as well.
