Good people, bad management

Pros

Super talented people, smart and fun to work with. Salary and benefits are fine.

Cons

Managers keep pushing "voluntary" overtime, even when there’s no reason. Say no, and they remember. Deadlines are promised upwards to look nice, and when it fails, the team gets blamed. Everything is about showing numbers, not solving problems or building quality. Broken or missing tools stay like that for months. You’re expected to work around it. Quick flashy wins get rewarded, important steady work ignored. Raising risks early is not safe. You’ll be labeled as not committed and told to stay late. Status is always "green" until it explodes, then it’s on you.

Tech and Culture First, Career Growth Second

Pros

- In-house product team that genuinely wants to make a cutting edge product. - CX and Claims teams who put forth a lot of effort to make the best experience for our customers. - Giveback Program and B Corp status removes a lot, but not all, of the icky industry stigmas. - Great benefits and perks.

Cons

- Salaries are not where they should be, but with the incorporation of AI and a minimal hiring strategy, perhaps we’ll see this change? - Focus on “net zero” hiring solves for overhead but not individual career growth. Management also struggles with associate development outside of key metrics so when leadership roles become available, in-house talent is at a disadvantage.

Pros

The culture is positive. No micromanaging. Benefits are good. Kinds easy to move into a new position after 12 months.

Cons

Salaries are a little low compared to some other carriers with same job description.
