Pros

Historic company - had a great family-owned reputation. Still tries to maintain ideals

Cons

No longer employee-centric; massive/constant lay-offs, no true sense of direction; Ivory Tower mentality

Pros

It's an iconic brand that will hopefully continue to have a place in the market. At one time it was THE place to work. If you live in the city, it's nice to have an option to work in the city. There are still many qualified and team oriented people in the company; the type of employees that are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

There are continuous reorgs year after year with continuous, conflicting changes to company direction. They just can't seem to define the direction of the company. They tend to lay off the best people managers while they keep the poor decision makers and poor people managers that got the company in this spiral in the first place. The culture is not currently employee friendly. Many areas are vastly understaffed, so the work load is daunting, with no positive rewards. The rumor is that they are preparing to sell the company in the next two years.

Pros

The culture is great. We are surrounded by smart, creative and inspiring people but the constant change in leadership, process and the lack of consistency in decision making and point of view causes a ton of unnecessary spin. There a ton of talent so I have no doubt that Levi's could be great.

Cons

There is no training or clarity in roles. It is a sink or swim environment, so unless you are a go-getter and not afraid to build relationships on your it is easy to get lost. In Merchandising, the hours can be unpredictable so it is at time hard to have a healthy work-life balance but it also depends on your team environment. The company has been through about 3-4 re-orgs in the past 3 years so there has been no chance to actually get into a rhythm with ways of working and process.
