Pros

Good benefits and cheap healthcare.

Cons

1. Sean Fitzpatrick and Mike Walsh are heartless. Constantly cutting the workforce so that they can compensate for poor performance and get their bonuses. 2. The layoffs and re-orgs they make are poorly executed and often times, not given enough time to be executed before more cuts are made. Sean Fitzpatrick said, "If we get a re-org wrong, we quickly re-structure it to work." The executive team is not forward thinking. 3. DO NOT work here for marketing. The marketing department is extremely dysfunctional and has undergone 3 re-orgs in the last 12 months. The marketing leaders refuse to work together which results in over-saturation of the market and brand fracture. 4. They have a habit of laying off employees close to their 401k vesting date, retirement or coming back from maternity leave. 5. There is no opportunity for career growth. 6. LexisNexis is in the midst of a re-location out of Dayton, Ohio. Executives continue to tell people that Dayton is a "Center of Excellence" for sales, marketing and a few other areas. However, jobs are consistently cut and re-placed in Raleigh, New York or the Philippines.

Thanks for taking time to write your review. There are many good things happening at LN, which makes your comments disappointing to read. LexisNexis continues to grow and strengthen its foundation worldwide. We’ve seen significant improvements in our products over the last year, especially with analytics and in our users’ experience. As our momentum builds, our customers continue to respond favorably and tell us they like what they are seeing from us. As a global business, LexisNexis is constantly challenged to adapt to the demands of the marketplace. We are always looking at ways to improve how we operate. Taking on this challenge can be difficult for many teams – marketing is no exception. Our leaders continue to be very transparent with all employees about the decisions that are made. While change can be hard, the company is making great strides. Many employees are excited and energized by what’s happening here. With investments in advanced technologies, innovation spurred by internal teams and recent acquisitions, and commitment to advancing the rule of law around the world, people throughout LexisNexis are working hard to keep the company at the forefront of our industry. We’re grateful for them in every department that they serve. Thanks again for writing your review. Best of luck to you in the future.

Pros

Work is interesting and varied

Cons

So much work is moved offshore. Pay is not great. Best benefit was working from home, but that was eventually discouraged and you could not be promoted if you were a remote employee.

Pros

Nice campus, good co-workers, high 401k match, generous PTO, good overall benefits, a lot of folks still very dedicated trying to make LN successful.

Cons

Persistent and rampant cost cutting (i.e. cost challenges every other month). Frequent downsizing (headcount reductions) and department reorganization’s. Super low moral (i.e. internal NPS in my dept -40). Pending Dayton data center closure, IT staff relocation to Raleigh, NC, negative raises (-4.5%) for all Dayton IT (regardless of performance), likely Dayton campus relocation (~2-3 years out) due to oversized existing footprint. HUGE amortization’s now hitting that simply accelerate the current cost cutting only to remain at current overall cost levels (and they want to raise the OI even higher). Letting all the talented leaders go, a lot of the remaining A-list talent is simply leaving. The rest waiting for their severance package. Witnessing a future Harvard Business Case first hand. It’s so sad and frustrating!!!

Thanks for taking time to write your review. There are many good things happening at LN, which makes it disappointing to read some of your comments. LN is coming off one of its best years. We saw significant improvements in our products and customers continue to respond to us favorably. As a global business, we must adapt to changing customer needs around the world. And we’re making great strides in doing it. Our leadership has been transparent about our overall strategy for succeeding in the marketplace. Every market measure reveals that we must challenge ourselves to do things differently from before. It requires changes in technology, changes in skills sets, and changes in ways of thinking -- the old ways no longer work in today’s business environment. While not everyone will agree on any given approach, we have a strong leadership team in place that’s moving us forward and achieving great results for our customers and employees worldwide. Our strength as a company is rooted in the character and uniqueness of our people. As you point out, we are fortunate to have talented people across the organization that contribute to a collaborative and professional work environment. We continue to invest in employee training and improve communication about every facet of our work. In a perfect world everyone would join us on this journey. Many people choose not to continue forward. And unfortunately, we are unable bring everyone along. But there are, and always will be, many exciting opportunities to do great work and advance in this company. Thank you again for your review and for your service to LexisNexis.
