Pros

Lots of knowledgeable co-workers. Most managers are open to flexible hours and working from home.

Cons

After a recent change in upper management this place has gone downhill. Employees are told their pay raises are capped to 2.5%. No bonuses. Very few promotions while managers ask their best people to take on lead positions without offering them anything in return. Managers pay raises and bonuses are linked to employee reviews so employees are pressured throughout the year to give good reviews and are told their 2.5% raise is all the company can afford. Employee reviews involve no discussion of pay or compensation which they are told is controlled by HR. Upper management refuse to discuss pay and compensation at company meetings which they say is controlled by HR. Employees are misled to believe that HR is the sole controller of company money when it comes to pay and compensation. Upper management brags about saving money for the company which is directly related to their capping pay raises to 2.5%. Health benefits are horrible. You essentially pick from the ACA exchange. Company received a big tax break from recent tax law changes but didn't share any of it with employees. Management will ask employees to work overtime to get projects done and then after employees sacrifice to get the project out the door they're given little or no recognition. Developer tools are picked by management who are focused on reporting. Very little concern from management that the tool they pick actually makes the job harder.

Thanks for taking time to write your review. There are many good things happening at LexisNexis. You’re right – the people here are great. They’re smart, enthusiastic and creative. They work hard to deliver everyday for our customers. Our managers make priorities clear and empower and trust employees to get their work done. And we have good work-life balance and flexibility. Generally speaking with regard to pay & promotion, most employees throughout the company are eligible to receive pay increases, promotions and annual bonuses when justified. These decisions are made first at the business unit level – what happens in one business unit may not apply at another, even if you operate out of the same office. Then decisions are informed by individual performance, current pay & market rates, business unit performance and the current business environment. Final outcomes will vary by employee. We do have recognition programs (including our Raleigh-specific “Leader of the Pack” awards). We offer competitive health benefits with a tremendous amount of choice from multiple providers at multiple levels, allowing you to match to your needs. We provide training in advanced technologies like machine learning, analytics and AWS and ongoing product development training. We offer state of the art dev tools intended to improve the caliber of work coming out of dev teams. Not everyone agrees or always likes the same tool, but our company works to balance tooling with the functional needs of a large enterprise. It’s worth noting that LexisNexis is a subsidiary of U.K.-based RELX Corp. In 2018, RELX was named among Forbes’ Most Innovative Companies. We have consistently invested in hiring great employees and developing employees in strategic areas of business growth to continue on this positive trajectory. If you have questions about your specific situation, please start a conversation with your manager or your HR business partner. Thanks again for writing your review and thank you for your service to our customers.

Disconnects with Management

Business Outlook

Pros

Vacation days. Work from home (where allowed).

Cons

Management no longer communicates important changes on a company wide basis, but leaves it to silos or VP level management to cascade, which they don't or forget. It is clear that management thinks the culture is one thing when the individual contributors feel another. People don't know what they are tripping over when given a "just do it" assignment because there is a lack of training and oversight of newer employees. Certain amounts of work just can't get done because of the turnover.

Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with but the company treats them like garbage.

Cons

There is a culture of pumping white light into Mike Walsh's office.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We agree – there are many awesome people working here and they’re doing great things for our company and our customers. It’s worth noting that our senior leadership team is highly engaged with employees and with all of our offices and across all of our businesses. They regularly ask for input and feedback from employees at all levels of the company – including regular formal meetings and informal opportunities to speak with senior leaders too. We provide other feedback mechanisms from quarterly employee “pulse surveys” to skip-level meetings with leaders. Of course, your manager and HR partner are other avenues for feedback. If you have specific concerns, please speak with one of them. Or if more comfortable for you, voice those concerns at one of our next Raleigh listening sessions. Thank you for your review and your continued service to LexisNexis.
