Corruption and Harassment

Pros

Better than fast food. Sorta benefits. Sorta PTO (lumped with sick time and when the building closed due to inclement weather, employees were forced to work Saturday (2.5x pay) or use PTO to cover the building closure, despite company policy, in writing, is to pay employees upon closure). Start around $15/ hour for the lowest production positions.

Cons

Nepotism and unfair promotion practices, management is very cliquey. Sexual Harassment of both the quid pro quid and behavior varieties. I would suggest this place as only a temporary place of employment, and I suggest recording each and every instance of illicit behavior.

LexisNexis Reed Tech Response

First, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Reed Tech works hard to balance the concerns and needs of all parties whenever addressing an issue. Closing a business for inclement weather is never an easy decision to make when trying to balance the needs of the employees with the needs of the business and our customers. In the end, we made the decision not to require our employees to travel in hazardous conditions. However, in order to meet our business obligations, we gave employees the choice to either work the Saturday (for 2.5x their normal pay) or use a day of PTO to cover. We felt this showed our appreciation for the employees who stepped up to work on the weekend while still respecting those with other obligations on Saturday. We take pride in our benefits package and evaluate it annually. As an employee who has been at Reed Tech more than two years, you would accrue over 7 hours of PTO a pay period which equates to over four weeks of PTO a year. PTO increases over time, so that our most tenured employees accrued more than 10 hours of PTO a pay period. Plus, employees also get 10 paid holidays annually. Our medical, dental and vision plans are very competitive overall, matched to other businesses in the tech sector and effective the first day of employment. We offer tuition reimbursement after six months, free short term and long term disability insurance, free life insurance and a 401K plan with a company match. We also offer paid days off for our employees to perform community service if they desire. This is on top of a host of other benefits offered. Finally, Reed Tech, as part of the RELX Group, is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified persons. We take all complaints of nepotism, harassment, and unfair treatment very seriously. HR is committed to investigating any and every action that may violate Reed Tech’s policies or the RELX Code of Conduct and Business Ethics. We encourage you to contact an HR representative or you can report your concern to the RELX Group Confidential Line, where concerns can be raised anonymously if you would prefer. We value and consider all feedback, and we continue to try and find ways to improve. Thank you again for your comment.

Pros

• Tons of effort put into company culture • Your opinion is often valued • You're kept in the loop with business direction • Promotes from within • Makes a considerable effort to address complaints company wide

Cons

• Wage can be a little light, bumps in pay as well. • The help you need isn't in balance with the help you receive. • Vacation time is a little light to start. • Styles of managing not only hinge upon your direct supervisor and manager but which floor you end up on. If you're placed on the 'wrong' floor, micro-managing will be an issue. Experiments with managing philosophy lead to some short changing. • Despite casual dress attire, you may not wear shorts. This becomes a problem in the summer when the AC doesn't work properly. • You get the sense that you're more or less seen as a child. At the time I worked there, use of cell phone was a huge issue. I hear presently that it is not so any longer. Talking at your desk was a punishable offense if your supervisor didn't favor you. • Favoritism
