Pros

Free parking, unlimited vacation, some healthcare and daycare provided at reduced cost on site in some locations, generally good people in most areas of the company

Cons

Lexmark made a fatal mistake years ago by acquiring companies without any thought as to how to blend them together both technically and culturally. The result is a clunky and inefficient mishmash that barely works together, if at all. This acquisition approach became the new "strategy." The problem is that upper management did such a poor job understanding how everything should fit together that they were not able to articulate any of it to the employees or customers. Company acquisition decisions were not based on technology that made sense but rather what companies looked good on the books. Many of the companies that have been acquired have since been shut down (quietly) and employees laid off. The overall morale is horrible and very little is getting accomplished internally because people just don't see the point. Leadership is nonexistent and not communicating which only adds to the anxiety. The company is in a downward spiral.

Pros

There are a lot of different technologies to work on

Cons

Still a lot of old IBM management problems. Recent acquisitions have used up available capital and divided the management and leadership structures causing power struggles within the company and putting even more jobs off-shore.

Pros

Many good software developers in Lexington. Good unlimited vacation policy and work/life balance.

Cons

Enterprise software/Perceptive has little or no interest in Lexington developers. Perceptive has been like a little boy trying to do a man's job. Many of the purchases of software companies have failed because their IP wasn't properly inspected before the purchase and because upper management doesn't know how to manage software. How can a tech company not have a CTO? There are too many managers. Company is cheap regarding salary and raises. Too much reliance on overseas developers.
