Pros

* matching charitable contributions, dollar for dollar * I get a reliable paycheck every 2 weeks

Cons

* raises don't keep up with inflation, so you're paid a little bit less each year * my work here is the very definition of "just a job" * there are changes coming next year that will likely decrease the size of our annual bonus * you MUST go into a physical office, even if nobody else on your team lives nearby and you still spend the whole day on video calls anyways * low 401(k) match * expensive and ineffective health insurance * terrible benefits in general * policy mandates are frequently handed down from executives without taking employee feedback into consideration * senior leaders make promises that they break within days or weeks * we can't work from home full-time any more, even though senior leadership openly acknowledged that we were more productive from home * they track badge swipes, to make sure you spend enough time in the physical office * you have to reserve desks in the office each day, which are shared with random people and are barely ever cleaned. You don't get your own personal workspace * no mouse or keyboards provided in the office, even though we are required to be there, we have to bring our own equipment from home * our laptops are so locked-down and under-powered that it gets in the way of day-to-day work * every byte of your network traffic, even TLS traffic, is decrypted and logged. No sense of privacy or trust * even if you apply for and get hired to perform one type of work, you might be sent to another team doing something completely different that you have no interest in working on, and you have no say in the matter

Pros

The Surety industry, and more specifically, the Surety department at Liberty Mutual has been a pleasure to be a part of. The ability to manage our own desks and be provided with complete autonomy over our work is freeing and allows us flexibility. Having work-life balance is prioritized at Liberty and the leaders from the top down truly care about the happiness of the employees. This enables an environment that encourages a high performing culture. The pay is competitive in the market place. Additionally, the internal pay scale is extremely transparent here at Liberty Mutual so you know where you stand relative to the "pay-band" for your tier on top of being able to see what you can make in the other tiers. Having a hybrid work schedule is also a perk - 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Cons

There is no fruit provided for the employees in the office.
