Pros

Here's some of the pros of working at Life.Church/YouVersion: * Trust is freely given, not earned. * They care about you professionally and want you to grow, but even better than that the team and management cares about you growing personally and spiritually. * I've had some medical issues lately, and my boss has been very intentional to let me know that he's wanting me to get the help I need and to feel better. * We get to work on an application that brings the living, breathing Word of God to the entire world. How amazing is that? * They listen to my ideas and input, and I am new, so this is a big one! * You can grow in close friendship with your team, as much as you want to, so if you're intentional, it can be a blast. * You learn so much by being surrounded by so many talented, smart minds, who are willing and desiring to teach. I'm sure there are many more, but here's the first few that were on the top of my head. If you're reading this and feel a tug in your heart that this is the right place from you, then I say go ahead and apply. If God is leading you to work here, then he will provide.

Cons

I wholeheartedly believe that Life.Church is one of the best working environments ever. That does not mean that I haven't faced any cons. * I compared my talents to those around me and felt jealous or discouraged, but then I sat and remembered something. Everyone started somewhere, and if God brought them here, He brought them for a reason. So I prayed for a change of heart, because this work environment isn't competitive where my neighbor is trying to take my job. I let go of that so I could focus on doing the work that was set out for me and learning from the amazing people around me to become a better developer. * For a little bit I felt like I didn't know my team very well. I could've sat there and been sad about it, but then I realized something. I wasn't being intentional to talk to my team members. So, I made it a goal to have at least one intentional conversation each day. After a little bit I was able to call my team members my friends. I know these cons are unconventional and were self-imposed, but God is so good that he did not let me stay in those mindsets. It's an amazing place to work, and it's such an honor.

Pros

There is high intrinsic value in the work I do. I also feel like I can focus on incredible work during the week, and I feel the freedom to focus on my family in the evenings and weekends. I've learned countless skills and I'm confident there will be countless new ways for me to develop and receive more responsibility. I highly recommend joining our team!

Cons

Oklahoma City doesn't seem like an ideal location, but it's cheap to live here and the people are very friendly.

Pros

This was my first time being at a place that cared not just about my development, but me as a person. There's an entire team of people whose job it is to help with leadership development, and attending (and speaking) at technical conferences are highly encouraged. I tend to over-work personally, and my team cares so much about work-life balance that I was told to stop working so much, not only for my health, but to set a better example for everybody else. The work hours are super flexible; vacations, sick days and working from home to deal with stuff have never once been an issue. My teammates and leaders are excellent all-around. I couldn't ask for more.

Cons

It will spoil you for working anywhere else.
