Pros

Making your own schedule is a nice perk. That may be the only positive that I can take away from my time here.

Cons

Worked for LifeStorage for a few years now, I had high hopes coming in originally but those dissipated pretty quickly after. They cut our pay by changing the bonus/commission structure, and claimed it was to our benefit. Very cheap company from an employee point of view Worked there for years and never once received even a modest cost of living raise, despite being promised repeatedly. It doesn't matter how well you do your job, there is very little chance for advancement

Don’t care about customers or employees

Pros

This company gives a slightly better than average amount of paid leave.

Cons

The longer you work here the more people will be hired in for your same position at more money. Your chance at advancement beyond a certain level is slim to none. They have no issue simply terminating positions without warning even for employees that have put in 20+ years. They pretend like they care about their people in their literature and electronic communications but it’s all too obvious that they couldn’t care less about their employees or their well being. Buildings are often infested with rodents and leak, destroying peoples belongings but the company is slow to fix it, if they are willing to invest in fixing it at all, then they simply defer the victim to make a claim with their insurance. Employees are told not to give out insurance information for people that have rodent infestations if they violate our storage agreement. Climate control is set to 80 degrees and often fire doors separate portions of the building from the thermostat making the temperature 90 degrees plus in some areas when customers are paying extra to avoid heat and humidity. Employees are penalized if too many late fees are waived even when it is one of the many almost consistent times that Life Storage’s systems are not working correctly. The company allows lower level management to play favorites and raises are dispersed inconsistently and in an unfair manner. The company continually takes away benefits that employees enjoyed in the past. Budgets are written overly aggressive to avoid paying out bonuses and then employees are held accountable for not achieving what is sometimes a 10% or more projected year over year increase. The company leadership engages in a top down leadership style, (like VW did prior to the emissions scandal), often setting unreasonable mandates without accepting feedback from their subordinates which leads to people behaving unethically to obtain results; this is reflected in the manner in which employees obtain Google/Yelp reviews, how employees collect late fees from customers, and the manner in which they conceal product sales in storage price quotes just to name a few. The company is now branching out and investing in social programs in order to appear ad though Life Storage is a champion of marginalized people, when all the while they are marginalizing and under compensating their own employees. In short, if you need something short term this job is fine, but it’s nothing more than a job. If you’re looking for a career, look elsewhere unless you enjoy being unappreciated and under compensated. The only people that matter here are the upper management and the share holders. Life Storage does not care for the long term health of this company.

Pros

Very Minimal pay, but its a paycheck-many long time employees including managers have to work two jobs just to make ends meet

Cons

Seems the upper management all the way up to new CEO Sapphire show No respect for onsite personnel . Bias, nepotism and over work w underpay.
