Pros

I work with a great crew and we have a very relaxed office culture with great interpersonal relationships. The work itself is rewarding, as we get to help troubled teens improve their lives. Probably the best-paying non-profit in the Portland area.

Cons

Unfortunately, probably the best-paying non-profit in the Portland area. We have been understaffed for the past 5 months, and we are all scrambling to provide adequate coverage for our clients, which frequently leads to them falling through the cracks. Raises are unheard of, and our program manager has gone 4 months without seeing a financial report (that streak may still be going, we don't know). Morale is low, and we're constantly being told to do more because we're admitting everyone we can, including clients that belong in a much higher level of treatment, even though we're still understaffed. We're all getting burned out with no real compensation for our efforts or support from upper management. PTO policy is backward and frustrating.

Pros

I have worked for fantastic supervisors who have invested time and energy into my professional development. I have flexible work hours and my PTO requests have never been denied. The teams that I work on are full of employees who have a genuine desire to be at work serving our clients and think about ways to improve client care as well as team morale.

Cons

Productivity standard is high and difficult to meet in a community mental health setting. Raises are few and far between.
