Pros

The people I work with are very nice and friendly. The flexibility is great. I work 40 hours per week, but front load the hours so I have half days on friday. I can come in just about any time I want and leave anytime I want. PTO is pretty generous from the beginning. Good benefits all around for a single person.

Cons

The pay is pretty meager. Non-profit, so they don't afford very good salaries. Relatively small company so there isn't much room for advancement.

Pros

I worked for a really great manager in a grant funded program and I was really happy for the great experience that I got there. They also provided frequent training and free licensure supervision.

Cons

Many other programs including ones the I interacted with did not have such great managers and I heard some real horror stories. They also worked for programs that were not grant funded and had very high billing requirements to meet their productivity requirements and were often mistreated by management if they did not make them. Interestingly enough the productivity in my program with no official productivity standard was nearly identical to theirs and of course everyone was just below the cut-off. (Meaning that pressuring people to do more had absolutely no affect on their productivity.

Pros

helping people who need it

Cons

low pay, bad benefits for families, excessive paperwork, infrequent supervision, lots of employee turnover, low morale. Not only do they hire people with diploma mill PhDs to be a supervisor, they terminate or lay you off over the telephone! Their middle managers and program managers make almost double what the front line clinicians make.
