Pros

Getting to work with people of all ages and creating photographs that last a lifetime.

Cons

The pay was not very good. The Store Manager and Assistant Manager I worked for in Northbrook, IL were friends and they didn't do their part to keep store at its best. They wouldn't pull their own and expected those that got paid less than them to do their work on top of our own. I think if I had worked at a different location I would have had a better experience. I know Lifetouch is normally a great company to work for.

Pros

Seasonal full time work in the Fall. Coworkers are fun!

Cons

Pay is bad, too low for lugging equipment all around the cities for 3 months. Long hours, no breaks and the school environment. School personnel can be fabulous or horrific. Children can be fun and interesting or outright rude and obstinate. Parents are pushy and downright nasty at orientations and before school functions. Always "had the worst photos last year"...you can see the words forming as they approach.

Pros

Company seems to care about its employees - IF you get a good DSM. I've heard horror stories about bad DMs. It is a fun job, I'd rather take pictures and make me worried for people than stand behind a register. There are opportunities to earn a small commission by selling higher packages or digital albums.

Cons

The labor model is AWFUL. We can't guarantee our part time employees a set number of hours per week and it makes it hard to keep employees. The hours are terrible especially if you have a family or kids, you must work at least 2-3 weekends per month and are held accountable for things that are completely out of your control. Studio managers are essentially working 4-5 different jobs and getting paid for one.
