Pros

I am able to do the things that I love; photograph, work with children, meet people.

Cons

Where to start? Unless you are management your hours are very limited. Corp. goals seem to be get as much as possible from as little as possible. Every week the customer comments for my region have dozens of complaints on long waits to get in the camera room and short time once you get in there. You can get a quality session in 10 minutes IF it is one subject and they are completely cooperative. If that is not the case it is going to take longer or the pictures will be a big disappointment and the sales will reflect that. BTW the Chairman Award is a joke. The submissions that win are NOT from a 10 minute standard session. They do not reflect what we are producing on a day to day basis. The sad thing is they are what truly gifted photographers are capable of when given the time and freedom to truly express their art.

Great job, but get a second one.

Pros

If you love photography, then this job is the best. Working with people and taking pictures all day long is wonderful, although tiring.

Cons

The pay is awful. A second job is required. Only work here if you really love photography. Also, they do not hire full time, only part time. Going full time is your first promotion.

Pros

It was good money for the department I was in. I got to work with great people in the field and most of the employees at HQ were great too. ESOP when it was actually worth something.

Cons

Senior and mid-management are screwing the company into the ground. Lack of proper procedures on the latest equipment roll out was pathetic. They took a really insightful product and totally failed on the deployment of it. Losing 31 schools in 2 works in one territory because of lab issues is a prediction of things to come. You want to be in yearbook production, go to Jostens because Lifetouch sucks at it. They are losing more schools than they are getting and it's all to blame on bad mismanagement of this rollout. Middle management is too pre-occupied with saving their jobs and ESOP stocks that they aren't doing their real jobs. Oh, anyone that tells you that it's an employee owned company just because you get stocks is pulling your leg. There are no stockholder meetings, you have no say in how the company is run and they will tell you everything is fine in the morning and let you go by that afternoon as happened to another coworker.
