Pros

Always something to do Laid back atmosphere, no silly busywork Interesting job Opportunity to be creative Great lower-level management (though I suppose it depends on the store) Flexible hours

Cons

Scheduling is not done through the individual studios, but Lifetouch's online system. This means people can schedule online, which is good, but the system keeps track of how busy the studio is, and as it gets busier, it opens more and more appointment slots. Meaning we have one every ten minutes. Which is ridiculous and we fall way behind. Also, they expect us to answer the phone every time it rings, and if we are busy, leave a message in the call log. When you're in the studio trying to keep a sitting down to 10-20 minutes and the phone keeps ringing off the hook, there is simply no time. The in-store customers should come first so we can keep on time. Lastly, this is one of those jobs where you shouldn't expect to get many hours per week. So it's better as a second job.

Pros

A mediocre place to get started photographing. The specific location I worked for had opportunities to use your own camera and photograph candid events. A decent way to supplement income because it's monthly.

Cons

The travel was overwhelming. Usually driving between 75 to 100 miles per day on average. Be sure not to use any vehicle you are attached to as it will be destroyed by the end of the season. Mileage reimbursement is poor. There is no allotment of break time, meaning if you are busy all day the only break you may get is to use the bathroom. The equipment was given to me for the season so it has be sitting in my car for the last three months.

Clueless Management

Pros

The people. Lifetouch is lucky to have such caring people. Too bad most of them are in the Field and treated like second class citizens.

Cons

Clueless Senior and Middle Management. Too scared to move forward. Blames all ills on Sales. Afraid to change with the times. "Old Boys" type management. Totally broken business model with the way the split works.
