Don't Trust Upper Management

Pros

Great work environment and work experience. Started when the company was only 40-50 employees and the company definitely had tons of projects to work on. Best of all, they challenged you to be creative to solve the complex nature of the business's needs. Being a bit more left on the political spectrum, it definitely opened my perspective up to some of the conservative viewpoints; it made me appreciate both sides of each political arguments when talking with coworkers. The energy of the company is no other! Lots of friendly coworkers and everyone's willingness to uphold the company's mission statement of "Driving positive cultural change through media". In addition, the place felt like family working there - tons of company events such as The Escape Room, kart racing, and even a mario tennis tournament!

Cons

You can work your butt off, create solutions to complex problems, and do everything upper management asks, yet still get knocked down; but, I guess that's just how business works. There will be times you will blindly trust everything your manager says, and then a month later they go back on their word. Word of advice: Always send a followup email after you had any discussion with upper management; otherwise, that conversation just simply didn't happen. Even when getting assigned to a different project, your previous manager will have no issues saying "that's not my problem anymore" even when you were the MVP on their last project. It's unfortunate to see that the small company you thought was a second family has no problem replacing you with the next available intern.
