Pros

The program is designed to work. If a child or young adult is struggling in symbol (letter) imagery, phenomal awareness (sounding out), word recognition, concept imagery (visualizing/comprehension), or even arithmetic, there is a program that could help them. I felt the atmosphere was fun most of the time. Kids are the stars.

Cons

If the aim is to help children succeed than why is it aimed at spoiled kids whose parents can afford $120/hr×4hrs/day×5days a week???? The kids whose parents are racking up tens of thousands in debt are not being treated fairly. Here's why: the online sessions always start late, the technology is not efficient and much time is wasted. In addition many materials are seriously worn, damaged, missing or incomplete. I felt like the entire staff value of 'show' is to make it seem worth the excessive unreasonable amount of money they charge parents. The staff also seemed very unconcerned with any employee issues or struggle. They are salesfolk and demonstrate no depth or vision to develop a universal approach welcoming all economic statuses and not just the dissipating upper-middle class. I felt extremely underappreciated as an employee and a brother of a client.

Pros

I look forward to coming in on Mondays and miss it when I'm not there. You get lots of support and training from both experienced coworkers and upper management. The teaching methods are all research validated and you get to watch them really work. Nothing beats seeing a kid jump several grade levels in their reading over the course of a few months. Overall a fun job.

Cons

You often get full time hours while still being counted as a part time employee which means you're not eligible for health care. The pay is fairly low. Parents get charged a huge amount to send their kids here.

Pros

Other clinicians are often very nice

Cons

Very inconsistent hours each week and they don't care about giving each person enough hours, yet they expect us to always be available to work. Growth in the company is only for very specific types of people. They do not allow you to put them as job references for any future jobs you apply for.
