Great for the kids, not so much for the employees

Pros

The program really works. The kids are generally amazing and teach you a lot. You'll meet some great people.

Cons

Yikes. Money's the bottom line, no matter what they tell you. Hours are hit and miss, do not rely on a steady paycheck. Does not take good care of their employees.

Pros

Training that can be taken with you if you're interested in working in education

Cons

No respect for people on the floor doing the actual work, the company seems more in it for the money and not really there to provide long-term solutions to students in need (though they will say they can help if the person will stay longer for more money), terrible management, little pay for the very hard work

Pros

The work is rewarding and too see the improvement in students is fantastic. The training is well done.

Cons

Recently there was a company wide pay cut as sales this year were at an all time low for LMB. Now I understand that pay cuts happen and that this sometimes happens with a business, however the way it was handled was appalling and makes me question upper management and Nanci Bell and how they choose to run a company. I can only speak from my experience at my centre, but I work with some of the most amazing people in the world, who are not only kind and thoughtful, but who also really believe in improving children's reading and comprehension ability. The clinicians and consultant's that I work with put forth their best effort every session, every day, to get results for these students and not being recognized or rewarded for their hard work is unfair. The work we do is very demanding and to be honest, our salaries should be higher than they currently are. For a management to send out an EMAIL to notify their employees that pay cuts were happening, only FOUR DAYS before they cuts were put into effect is abhorrent. The fact people actually think that that is the way a business can be run is laughable and leaves me speechless. Now I am only a part time employee so a salary cut to me might not be as detrimental as it is for full time employees, however the lack of respect shown by upper management must be exposed and they must be called out for it. Scheduling is an absolute disaster. It not only makes no sense and is extremely inefficient, but you don't even know your schedule until the Friday before following week starts, so you can't make any plans. The schedule also changes all the time and they add on hours without asking or taking into consideration that you might have already made other plans or appointments. Upper management doesn't care about their employees at all and seem completely money and business driven and seem to have forgotten what the mission of Lindamood Bell is supposed to be.
