More sales focused than you expect

Pros

Seeing your students succeed is always magical. Meeting interesting people and learning new ways to teach and learn is fun. Obtaining business skills and networking is a big part of the role.

Cons

Parents are hard-pressed to pay over $100/hour for the service, with an average amount of hours being 60-100. If you're not able to sell that price tag, you don't last long as a center director. If you lead with your heart but can't close, then you're on borrowed time and your many bosses are hounding you.

Great Work, So-So Compant

Pros

The work is extremely fulfilling, the staff was absolutely wonderful to work with at my center, the clients are wonderful, and it really works. You can see the massive growth of the kids you work with in the time you work with them and it's incredible to see.

Cons

The pay is not great, and there is little to no room for advancement despite multiple trainings you receive. I trained into entirely new positions and capacities 3 times and received a 0% pay increase, and the maximum bonus I got from my yearly review came out to 68 cents. The only raise is a one dollar raise for becoming a Mentor and further raises for company advancement to positions like ACD or CD and upwards. They do not want to pay you but they absolutely want to work you, and it's tough work. The kids are delightful, but they can also be tough to deal with, especially if there are contributing factors like diagnoses (that you often won't be forewarned about) or issues at home, or the fact that it's often hard for them to do the work. You can often feel unsupported by management if you aren't very willing to stand up for yourself and your coworkers.

Pros

Consistent hours during the summer. Lots of training

Cons

Slow during the school year. If you're full time, you pretty much have to teach curriculum during the school year. Not much room for growth
