Pros

Benefits and pay are the best things about this place.

Cons

This is by far the worst place I have ever had the misfortune to work. I believe there are some great teams at the foundation, but the product team is not one of them. **DO NOT JOIN the product team!** If you're a product owner, software engineer, or quality engineer you're probably going to join that team. Run, just run. The management doesn't know what they're doing. Their way of motivating you is to threaten termination. It has become clear that Jim Zemlin is responsible for this toxic culture. He needs to be replaced or demoted. If you like late-night unscheduled calls, exclusively vague and negative feedback, a culture of distrust and backbiting, this is the place for you!

Pros

1) It's challenging - every day can be a new adventure 2) Front end of technological changes - open source ecosystems are revolutionizing technology development 3) Professional people to work with - very strong camaraderie and highly professional expertise instantly available throughout the organization 4) Get to work with technology innovators and drivers from thousands of member companies 5) People who do leave the LF often find amazing opportunities - you'll constantly be recruited as the connections and brand you develop open new opportunities 6) Competitive pay, outstanding benefits compared to other tech industry options

Cons

1) Open source operates 24x7x365 and balancing timezones can be a challenge 2) High output expected from the communities we serve, means you constantly have to clarify priorities 3) No stock options or ... stock... it's a nonprofit that pays well but the comp and benefits structure doesn't have an equity pay out or IPO coming.
