Disappointing

Pros

Some very knowledgeable people on staff- unfortunately most are not being utilized appropriately. Outside events are usually enjoyable.

Cons

Too many chefs in the kitchen and most of the chefs never had any experience cooking! Company is mismanaged, with too many outsiders who are not from the industry making decisions without a proper understanding of the business or the ethical and legal requirements of the industry. While on paper the company may appear solvent, it is all smoke and mirrors as well as fancy accounting tricks. This is a supposed to be an international trade organization, specializing in Customs brokerage, freight forwarding and international trade compliance. Yet, the company flagrantly disregards many regulations themselves, often disregarding the intent of the rules they are supposed to follow while operating in "grey areas" that have yet to be adequately ruled upon. Which in turn causes unnecessary issues and consequences for the employees, company and customers alike. Clients are often unhappy with the service sold and the actual service provided. Work environment is often chaotic and disorganized. Overall, employees are treated disrespectfully and downright poorly by the company. Reorganizations, without warning, are way too common and frequent. You never know if your co-workers will be with you the next week. Turnover is outrageous in many departments. Comments from management to lower level staff are often patronizing and demeaning. Lack of communication or deliberate miscommunication is common place.

Pros

Co-workers were great to work with. There is a great deal of talent in the sales team, the administrative support team, and most of the HR team.

Cons

Management and upper level management leaves a lot to be desired. They hire people who have the experience and expertise to do a job and then they don't allow those people to take charge to do their jobs. Upper level management is completely unorganized and at times very unprofessional. TONS of turn-over throughout the organization, and frankly, no-one is willing to DO anything about that. (better vetting and interviewing skills by the upper level management to ensure the candidate is truly a fit, better on-boarding and training and accountability of new hires in order to keep them, better lines of communication, treating everyone with respect and encouraging people (providing the right tools) to be successful and develop professionally) so they actually want to stay and build a career there. Offering annual bonuses and then finding illegitimate reasons for not paying it (company-wide).
