It has its ups and downs

Pros

Work-life balance; 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)

Cons

"Old school" management style and work ethic. Not much autonomy for individual contributors - far too many layers of management. Mediocre medical benefits - premiums have risen substantially in recent years, and actual coverage has declined (higher copays, annual deductibles, prescription costs, etc.). We are now paying more for less, and salaries are not increasing at a rate that compensates for the additional premium costs being flowed down to employees! Speaking of compensation, in general, salaries are not competitive with other Silicon Valley companies.

Pros

Lockheed Martin was a fine place to work. Employees are offered a great benefits package with top-level health care, and many utility companies offer discounts to Lockheed employees. The pay was competitive, employees can maintain a fine work/life balance, and the company has instant name recognition for future career opoortunities.

Cons

Depending upon your job title, assignments can become routine and unchallenging. There is also not always a path for career advancement for all employees.
