Pros

Nice co-workers and it's close to the Metro

Cons

Pretty much everything! This contract services TSA, Lockheed under-bid the contract in the beginning, so don't expect great pay or any type of raises. Management is just trying to keep their heads above water on this contract. So, there are absolutely no perks and expect to be asked to make a financial "contribution" when it comes time for the company picnic and holiday party. It's very sad the way employees are treated on this contract. I can promise you, if you come to work here, you'll regret it.

Pros

Plenty of responsibility, even for new employees Potential for fast-tracked growth if you have the right manager Excellent educational support for those seeking advanced degrees Lots of training opportunities Humongous network and potential to move around within and between LM companies Commitment to professional ethics and personal integrity is top-notch

Cons

Pay is average at best, and based on an extremely rigid structure. Compensating truly exceptional employees is very difficult Job functions are extremely narrow in focus Inter-organization cooperation can be extremely difficult and frustrating Performance review system is abysmal Merit raises barely keep up with inflation for most employees, even those with good ratings

Pros

Work/life balance, decent pay, good people.

Cons

IS&GS doesn't provide much career development. In the past 6 years I have requested, but not been granted any training... "because the customer will not pay for training". With the exception of compliance training, the company doesn't have an organized training plan for the employees. I know a senior level person who had to pay for their own way to an I.T. conference which benefited our client. During the past government layoff, we were forced to take vacation and were told we couldn't look for work else where in LM. Working for a big company like LM, I would have expected a little more support, but we got a 4 day notice to "take vacation".
