Pros

Benefits were good (not great). Hours were good depending on the project. Many good job opportunities within the company especially if you wanted to travel. To keep costs down, company encourages good health practices. Good amount of vacation with emphasis to take the vacation for work/life balance. Company has values most people will agree with.

Cons

Stuck in some of the old ways of doing things. LM is a big company, and it is hard to get meaningful change within the corporation - mostly due to the nature of the type of work that has to be done for their customers. Leadership keeps changing organization and realigning departments, but it doesn't do anything other than confuse the workers. Cost of healthcare benefits continue to rise. Raises did not cover the difference in health care costs. Going through a rough spot and not afraid to let good people go. Has very interesting work or very plain, grunt work. It is up to the individual to seek out their career path.

An odd company

Pros

+ Incredibly interesting technical work. + Very technically talented coworkers. + Access to absolutely top end, world class equipment and facilities. + With the right attitude, you can learn an impressively diverse skill set here. + If you want to drink the Kool-Aid, it's not very hard to jump into some worthless leadership/rotational/development program and ride someone's coattails into a low value/high pay corporate gig.

Cons

- Clings to 1960's style "Company as family" propaganda, when the relationship is clearly one sided. LM will show you no loyalty, but seems to expect it. - Clock-punch mentality. To some, value of work = how early they arrived at the office - Beyond inept at talent retention. - Awful at giving promotions; clings to service time model (see 1960's critique above) - Kafkaesque bureaucratic environment. - While talented, many of your coworkers are bitter. - Layers upon layers of upper management and executives.

Pros

Progressive technologies and brand. Excellent compensation and benefits. Excellent job growth/development potential with the ability to move laterally or vertically. The company is transparent about performance management, factors and qualifications considered for promotion, salary ranges, and development opportunities.

Cons

Culture of employees generates sense of entitlement which limits the engagement and results. The leadership has not been trained to balance the needs of the employees with management's objectives and business goals.
