Pros

This company is good for young engineers recently out of college, as long you get on a project with modern technologies (otherwise, you really are wasting your time/skills). They pay well in the beginning, but one you reach level 3, get out. Management at this company thinks nothing of abusing technical staff to work 60+ hours a week to meet contract deadlines that should never have been agreed to. And once you reach level 4, your peers in the non-military/government world will be making much more than you.

Cons

Very political. Senior technical people got to their positions not because of actual technical skills, but because of politics. A couple that I know run enterprise level Java SOA projects, and they've never written a line of Java code before! A huge wave of older senior managers (who were good) level the company within the last 5 years, and their replacements (VPs and directors) were promoted too far too fast, and are doing a god-awful job. Market share continues to plummet, being lost to smaller more agile companies. And LM has been losing an alarming number of ECP/follow-on contracts, largely due to delivery very low quality products.

Pros

Will not fire a warm body.

Cons

If your courious, All of the below contents have been taken up, by many, with the group HR who really doesn't care about this program. Here is how yearend reviews went for some staff - "this is just a job to get by. You should always be looking somewhere else." "you cannot get a promotion here" The team leaders actually YELL at the staff if the center, which is understaffed, call levels drop. If your good at your job excpect an increase to the amount of calls you take and decrease to the call volume from the other staff members that do not care. 02/18/2014 - Management informed the center "if you are unable to access a system you will be furloughed without compensation and any accrued vacation days will be taken first" Well you have no control over the systems since you're a subcontractor to HUD and HUD is constantly turning off their systems and revoking the subcontractors access (it's a game they play because they are union and dont like the subcontractor competion). So instead of management trying to resolve the conflict with the client they beat up the staff and increase the other staffs call volumes to compensate. Honestly they can't even get the parking lots plowed of snow or keep coffee stocked. If this is your last resort you'll get hired but don't except anything else.
