Pros

Job security is assured since most of the work is classified and cannot be outsourced. The medical plan is good but relatively expensive for such a large company.

Cons

You will work very long hours a lot of the time since project scheduling and estimation is atrocious at Lockheed. Merit raises are not tied to company performance, do not reflect employee's contributions to the company, and ignore if employee has critical skills the company is looking for. Reviews are very slanted to where you are in your salary band rather than what your compentencies are or the quality of your work. And managers are forced to "push" the majority of employees into the "average" rating to keep salaries down.

Pros

Large company tends to have larger fringe benefits. Location is amazing (especially if you live relatively close). Many varied opportunities are apparently available, but sometimes it's difficult to move to other jobs within the company depending on your current manager's need to keep you.

Cons

Reviews seem canned and do not seem to affect your raises, despite what is told to you by management. Benefits are on a major slide - even more so than similar companies. Internal project leadership (from a technical standpoint) can be lacking, sometimes due to a "leader by default" mentality.

Pros

Health benefits, average pay. There is a fair respect for employees flexing their time, but some government contracts require overtime (non-paid). Most Lockheed sites are very nice, but I work at an Air Force base. Our accomodations are falling apart - but Lockheed save money on our overhead.

Cons

The managers have not succeeded in normal worker communications. Most are very transparent when it suits them. After 35 years I'm finally getting fed up. (35 years - I'm an idiot) At appraisal time, the same average rating is given time and again.
