Pros

Great opportunities to try different facets of engineering. I'm originally a Software Engineer by trait but the company has allowed and encouraged me to dabble in Systems Engineering as well as Systems Administration. You truly get a great breadth of knowledge and appreciation for a company when they encourage their employees to see new things and work in an area they prefer and want to be in.

Cons

There is an ELDP program throughout Lockheed Martin designed specifically for engineering which identifies potential technical leaders and puts them through a rigorous training curriculum. The issue with the program is there was an inconsistency amongst Lockheed branches as to how the course was structured. Some members at certain sites had no technical curriculum to go through while others (ie- Syracuse NY, Moorestown NJ) had to dedicate nearly 30 hours weekly for course related work.

Pros

The company has good benefits. The work atmosphere is decent as well. The have organized events for new college hires and employees who have started recently. Flex hours are available on most projects.

Cons

Employees are not rewarded by hard work. Promotions are solely dependent on whether your manager feels like filling out the paper work or not.

Pros

There are a lot of opportunities to be involved in different aspects of engineering. You are allowed, even encouraged, to apply for different positions within the company.

Cons

Getting hired is a double edged sword. It can be difficult getting an interview (applying seems fairly useless, they will find you if they're interested) so many people are likely to take less money than they want or to work in a program that doesn't particularly interest them to "get their foot in the door." It is extremely difficult to get raises or promotions without transferring around in the company. A major focus of the company is retaining younger employees, most people either leave well before they hit their 5 year anniversary or end up staying for 20-30, not a lot in between.
