Pros

Lockheed Martin is involved in some of the most interesting projects in the world. There are countless opportunities to explore new career goals and grow as a professional. Many of the jobs are very rewarding, and play a crucial role in the stability of the U.S. and its allies.

Cons

With the predominant customer being the government, the business tempo is erratic on many programs. Many projects operate on long term visions, but short term planning. The volatility both internal, and with the customer, lead to aggressive response times, and teams being ill-prepared to tackle challenges.

Pros

Historic and great company to work for. You have a lot of backing, and funds to play with. Great exposure to seniors if you want it. I believe LM is really what you make of it, they really love Engineering SMEs but also allow you go to out the box in your career.

Cons

Still very US based, and don't really know how to do business outside of US government to government sales. Still sees the UK business as immature, even though we show them up a lot of times!

Pros

Lockheed Martin IS&GS, per my reckoning, is the less attractive, but stable side of the company. The contracts can be fun and the projects are big. I have met many people who I felt would be great mentors as I've hopped across projects.

Cons

The bureaucratic machine of IS&GS is woefully painful and lacks strong leadership. Middle management, on at least two projects, showed lack of direction that lead to delays in delivery, performance and, ultimately, loss of business. Working at a "customer site" can lead to loss of identity for on-site employees. The ability to move up within the company is subject to the performance of the contract as well as your mobility to move to other LMCO projects. I loved the work I did, I hated the games and string-along management did and it was ultimately the reason I left.
