Pros

I loved this position and who I worked for - I worked remote but still felt like a real part of the team. We were still small and new, but made every effort to make me feel welcomed. One time Vinay (CTO) even helped me with my homework being that I was still finishing my degree. Joe (CEO) was also easy to work with. Super down to earth - if I ever messed up he didn't get upset, he just always wanted to know my thought process. As a self-starter, that is a big relief. As long as I was making thoughtful decisions, it was considered an accident or a lack of knowledge that led to the error - not negligence. In a remote setting it's key to have trust between boss/employee and I'm grateful to have had that.

Cons

There is always something to be working on - and at a start-up a lot of times superiors are busy. I had to be diligent/patient when looking for answers and be ready to move onto the next thing and circle back to finish something. I like this kind of fast paced environment, but you need to be able to juggle.

Pros

Great benefits, decent pay, flexible PTO

Cons

6 months ago I would not be writing this review but things at loom have gone downhill so fast in such a short amount of time. Echoing what another reviewer said in that the founders have to have their hand in EVERYTHING. It’s so bad that leadership can’t get work done because they’re constantly waiting for approval from the founders. This inevitably trickles down to the rest of the company to the point where we all need approval for a minuscule task…and I’m talking MINUSCULE. Plain and simple, people aren’t trusted to do the job they were hired to do. There’s absolutely zero autonomy because the leadership team has no say in the decision making. Why hire VP’s if you don’t give them the trust and authority to run their teams how they see fit? Ego’s are big, the leadership team routinely talks crap about other members on the leadership team. For a communication product, there’s no communication across the company. People fight over projects, or even worse, work on the same projects without discussing it so double work is being done. They buy gifts for everyone to try to avoid fixing real issues within the company. Ice cream is great n all, but that doesn’t mitigate the fact that Loom has BIG problems and buying gifts will not solve them. They fire people without warning. Long time employees are leaving. The culture is nonexistent. The list goes on.

Pros

- The founders are thoughtful, creative, and product-minded. - The people are talented, driven, and have your back. You'll make friends for life. - Users love the simplicity and elegance of the product. - We are still early and growing fast. There are endless opportunities to grow and impact how people around the world work and will work in the future. - You get ownership and your work has impact. You are part of building an enduring company. - This is the closest thing you will get to consumer in B2B software, brand matters. - The work is fun.

Cons

High growth is a blessing not without challenges. Be prepared to work hard – but there is a high chance it will be the best work of your life.
