Pros

* Loom has an environment that encourages high impact work that aligns with your own career and life. * Everyone at work thrives to be better coworkers and people. * Assuming positive intent of one another has really helped the company drill down to what's important * Unlimited PTO and an understanding that people need breaks, physical and mental to perform their best

Cons

* While feedback is treated as a gift, it can take a while for it to be delivered at times * No 360 review structure in place currently (April, '19)

Hello! This is Vinay (co-founder and head of engineering). I really appreciate the candid feedback on both the pros and cons. The unlimited PTO thing is especially nice to hear, because, truthfully, I am always concerned that unlimited PTO leads to people not actually taking the time off they need. As for the feedback taking a while to be delivered, I would love to understand how you may change that. Currently we employ yearly reviews, but I personally am not a big fan of them. Would moving to 6-month reviews work better? Where else would you like to see feedback be delivered in a systemized way? My thinking is that some people are more comfortable with delivering feedback than others, so we really need to make sure there are processes that allow folks to deliver feedback (sometimes anonymously - as you're saying with 360 degree reviews). Would love to hear your thoughts and will wait for a reply back! Vinay

Hi, This is Vinay (one of the co-founders and the head of engineering). Thank you so much for the positive review. For the ambiguity, I definitely agree that it can be a bit much at times. I believe this problem is personally on me and it's one we're fighting against by (finally) hiring product managers. When Joe and I started the company, we ended up doing a lot of ad-hoc project and product management together for each initiative, which was fine up until about 6 employees. Now that we're at 33, that has quickly shown to not scale. We hired a full-time project manager but are realizing we need fully dedicated product managers as well. We're currently hiring for a few, so we'd love any referrals you may have who you think would align with where Loom is going! Either way, whoever this was, I really appreciate your feedback and review and apologize for any friction/pressure the ambiguity may have caused at the time. Vinay
