Pros

Good benefits, Some independence if you are an operator or working in the field, Job security since this is a governmental organization that is not going away any time soon.

Cons

Management that is not always in touch with the issues that affect the riders (our customers). Poor planning at all levels which allow contractors to design and build projects which are never completed correctly and walk away from their warranty responsibility when Metro is forced to spend it's own money to finish correctly what the contractor did not. Unions generally have better compensation and more frequent raises than non-contract employees.
