Pros

They want their employees to learn so I was grateful that they offer some certificates on site that can enhance your education and time there. It's nice that they also do Metro ride alongs for the bus and rail system so you can better connect to customers and service (if you don't already ride Metro to work.)

Cons

The most incompetent workforce I've ever worked with. As I write this right now, I still haven't received my last paycheck from Metro. Each time I email or call, no one responds or picks up and my last day was well over 18 days ago!!! When I started here, someone in HR lost my HR paperwork that had sensitive information like my social security and identification on it. I never received an apology for that but was told it was my fault! Employees work with no sense of urgency and with entitlement. Nepotism seems to be a theme at Metro. There also is a lack of communication between the rail and the bus side (division still exists from RTA and MTA coming together as Metro from 20+ years ago.) Just do yourself a favor and go work somewhere else. Although Metro seems to have their communication team together to promote Metro's good work, internally they are a mess.

Pros

I'm a high school dropout and this job put me into the middle class. My pay was equivalent to a private sector manager. I had all benefits and 5 weeks paid vacation. The job can be very easy if you pick the right route. Helping the disabled gave me such a great feeling inside that would cancel out any negatives dealing with the public. Patience and a thick skin are essential if you wish to succeed.

Cons

Constant harassment and writeups by management over stupid little things. Virtually ALL contact with management is negative. You have to pat yourself on the shoulder everyday for a job well done. The United Transportation Union sucks.
