Pros

CalPers retirement package, Tuition Reimbursement program, and reasonable benefits. Most positions do not require overtime if Work/Life balance is an issue.

Cons

No incentive pay or bonuses mean that everyone gets paid the same no matter how hard they work. In some departments there is worker apathy due to micromanagement of workers or from a lack of management feedback on performance. Also, due to unionization, many good workers are forced to work
