Fear-Based Frat House Full of Bullies

Pros

Slim to none. The only positive experience was meeting a couple of people that became lifelong friends (we've since all left/quit lower as fast as we could).

Cons

Fear-Based Frat House Full of Bullies Lower is quite literally the worst job I've ever had in my entire life. I still think about it and get sick to my stomach. The work expectations were absurd and nearly everyone was overworked and stressed ALL the time. Management was the worst I've ever seen--laughable that they can call themselves managers as they are the most narcissistic, uneducated, out-of-touch, cringy people I've ever met (including “leadership” and the CEO Dan Snyder). Operations were nightmare fuel and it's absolutely NO surprise Lower is tanking so quickly. Myself and many colleagues had/have severe mental health issues as a result of this company. It's painful to know several of my peers literally had to seek medical help from the pressure, toxic environment, and lack of empathy that we were put through. If you're considering working here, please know you're better off working ANYWHERE else. I would have preferred working at a fast food restaurant over this hell hole.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. While we are glad to hear that Lower brought you some lifelong friends, we are disappointed to hear about your overall experience. We understand that sales can be mentally hard on people. We certainly recognize this may not be the right role or industry for everyone. Our Employee Assistance Program also offers free counseling sessions for anyone that feels that their mental health due to any cause in life may be suffering. The EAP allows employees to talk with a counselor on many topics such as work/life balance, stress, anxiety, life changes, etc. We encourage all employees to use this benefit if they are struggling with mental health. Lower does not tolerate bullying in any form. Our policies are designed to create a safe and respectful workplace for everyone. We are deeply concerned to hear about this and hope that anyone who feels that they have experienced bullying or unfair treatment report it to someone in HR or our anonymous employee hotline immediately.

Pros

I must say there were none at all.

Cons

Where do I begin. They will lie, cheat, and steal so that the CEO, Dan can get rich. Workers are strung along with the hopes that one day they will all make it big, even the ones who put the IKEA desks together. Only to have Dan's errand boy come and deliver the bad news. Errand Boy.

No Longer a Good Place to Be

Pros

When times were good, this was a 5-star company to work for. Culture was great, leadership was motivating, and compensation was decent. We provided a top-notch product with impeccable service. This is no longer the case.

Cons

Top-level executives failed to forecast the market shift, even though the average Joe knew for the last 2 years that economic challenges were on the horizon and rates would skyrocket. For the first 3 quarters of 2022, they played it off like it business was still the best it’s ever been, meanwhile, mass layoffs were happening on a regular basis, decent wages became a thing of the past, and products were being discontinued left and right. Our clients were getting an inferior product, at a higher cost, while also receiving horrendous service with little confidence of their loans actually closing. To put it bluntly, when my friends or family asked me to do the loan for their new homes, I suggested they look elsewhere because I care about them. If Lower is still around when the market stabilizes and they start hiring again, do not work for them. It may workout when things are good, but when a challenge comes their way, your experience will go downhill, and that’s assuming they decide to keep you.
