Pros

There’s no good reason to work here. I was a line worker at Lubys when I was promised to be put as server, then after a month of being pushed around, over scheduled and worked to death in their filthy moldy broken AC of a “restaraunt” I became sick multiple times, also other coworkers, and nobody cared to let anyone leave. We were all pushed to rock bottom and would be fainting at and throwing up with no permission to leave. I eventually couldn’t take it anymore and called multiple health departments, then the next day I was attacked by the staff and walked out. Moral of the story, Lubys on center street is disgusting and careless. The reuse their food for the soups, like meat and corn and green beans. Even some of the fish. Everything is saved for weeks until it is gone.

Cons

They have no respect for their employees, cut your pay, and will over work you with no care at all.

Pros

Employee discounts and plenty of hours available when working in kitchen

Cons

I was working there 6 months before they asked me if o wanted to train as a cook.I was initially hired as utility.well they trained for 2 hours then give the position to someone new.I was told that I would be 'promoted' when they had someone to replace me in utility which didn't happen.get used to working thanksgiving and Christmas.its mandatory.no overtime. You have to work at least 2 years full time to even be eligible for benefits.safety first?I got sprayed in the eye with degreaser by a 7 year employee!

The Good and the Ugly

Pros

I like this company, and I am proud to work for them, but there are a lot of issues that need to be fixed. Some good things are that they promote people who do a good job, they are willing to let you learn on the job, and for the most part, your coworkers are good people.

Cons

I hesitated to give them a 2-star review because of the pros I mentioned, but then I figured this would be the only way upper management would hear my issues, which tells you something about the company. I will just tell you about the biggest issue. We had an employee survey and one of the things pointed out that we needed to improve is giving employees tools for there job, but then they don't give some Manager/Directors P-Cards. So then I have to pay out of pocket for last second caterings, company van oil changes, expenses for company travel, etc. They will reimburse you, but you are lucky if you get that reimbursement within 4 months. Meanwhile you are out the money, which I don't think anybody, including myself, has to just spend. I have been out over $300 before for months. Then they say you can only submit one reimbursement per month. So if you have to buy something and you just put your reimbursement in, you have to wait to wait another month to put another one in, and then they take several months to reimburse.
