Pros

Pay is higher compared to other restaurants, with great opportunity for growth if you aren't afraid of hard work. Family and team atmosphere in the units. As a manager you are able to choose your team memebers and create the type of environment you want. Also a great training program for entry level managers or recent college grads.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations of what upper management thinks can be done in a day. Understaffed as managers work 60+ hours a week trying to just get the minimum done. Expected to work every holiday including Christmas but not every store is open on Christmas.

Pros

This company definitely offers benefits for their full time employees including optical, dental, 401k etc. Their management training program is excellent the way it's set up for a manager to learn every aspect of what it means to run Luby's Restaurant down to taking things apart and every job in the place. They are pretty opening to hiring and are non discriminatory on race, gender, orientations, etc. Also normal employees are pretty dedicated and good at their jobs. They are pretty schedule flexible.

Cons

They are a little light on the hiring side and do need a little more planning for events like 100 people showing up or various holidays etc. Upper level, out of store management is pretty negative towards 'normal' in store employees on their practical level of skill. Just because people don't go through the management training program does not mean they don't know how to do their job or are less intelligent.

Pros

Diversity in hiring, training program that does well to prepare you for the task at hand, job security, company growth, pay

Cons

long days and rigorous work schedules, corporate HR policies that empower staff to a point that is unreasonable and difficult to manage, zero chance of spending any holiday with loved ones (in fact prepare for your already long work week to practically double during thanksgiving and Christmas), hourly staff wages are low making it difficult to find and keep quality people
