Pros

There are a lot of good people within the hosting and cloud ranks Engineers, PMs, Deployment managers, support, etc. Pockets of great managers

Cons

Unfortunately a landline company is in charge of what could be top tier managed hosting and cloud services. They can latch on other's vision for the company but they have no knowledge or patience to see the vision through because they have to, HAVE TO, pay that dividend to stockholders. They have cut employment and benefits to the bone. The headquarters and leadership needs to move away from the talent blackhole of Monroe, LA. No quality leadership wants to move to a town that uses the number of child dance studios as a selling point. Arts, culture, numerous institutes of higher learning, professional sports, etc or Duck Dynasty and Dance studios? Come on now.

Pros

Some good people left, but just hanging on for retirement or severance. Might be a good place to get experience before jumping to a better performing telecom company.

Cons

Company has grown too rapidly to adequately integrate newly acquired assets. This company is a sinking ship strangled by incompetent middle management that were relics left over from past acquisitions gone awry. Anchoring company to the bottom of the ocean is a corporate headquarters in Monroe, LA...top ranked telecommunications (or any other industry) talent won't relocate to city that by many accounts is dangerous and public education options for children limited. The incompetents that run the show in Monroe reward incompetence and strangle productivity and ingenuity with arcane policy, HR webinars and 4 month long performance reviews, that were a relic from the 80's, but only exist today to serve as an tool for which management to use when the inevitable day comes that revenue has fallen short and layoffs are required and some means is required to eliminate the low performer. Save some dignity and leave before they pull the plug on this dinosaur or continue to slowly grind away your benefits one-by-one.

Pros

On the surface, the mix of assets is strong (are the data centers sold yet?). CTLs main competitors, ATT & VZ, have shifted their focus to the wireless business, which opens the door for a sales professional selling WAN and telecom services.

Cons

Somewhere at the leadership level, the belief that poor employee treatment and the resulting low moral and high turnover is an acceptable cost of doing business. If you are in the CTL job today, it is not a great place to commit your energy and loyalty. and hundreds of people have voted with their feet.
