Not a good place to work

Pros

Benefits were actually pretty good. They had free snacks.. and Pop. They had beer and I often saw employees imbibe too much and not do their job. As a result, I had to pick up their pieces. Oh, was this supposed to be a pro?

Cons

From my experience, senior management claims to care about culture and their people, however, this couldn't be further from the truth. In many cases management claimed there was room for advancement when in actuality it appears they were simply trying to get more hours out of their employees. Their tagline is “Mind What Matters”. They claim to support a work-life balance, but my manager only cared about me working more hours. What “Matters” is the management making as much money as they could. I really didn’t want this review to sound like sour grapes so I will mention that I don’t think all the managers feel this way, and there are a lot of them. I happened to have a horrible manager and his manager was even worse. HR was nonexistent and I reached out several times because of personnel issues. Incidentally, I have talked to many people who have left and many feel the same way. Those who are hired here, please be warned.

Pros

Lutz is still small enough that management is approachable and actually has the power to change things. I do believe that they reward hard work and care about their employees. They're one of the few companies I've been at that regularly gives annual bonuses and raises. Good benefits: * 401K match around 6.5%, but with a 6 year vesting schedule * High deductible insurance plan w/ HSA * dental/vision and disability * company paid life insurance is not much ($25,000), but they offer supplemental coverage for fairly cheap They also do some of the "frilly" stuff that can make the difference to some people -> free snacks, pop/drinks, donuts/bagels on Fridays, company outings.

Cons

There's a "frat boy" culture at play, and Management and HR aren't interested in changing it. Some employees drink the Kool Aid and champion it. Others (like me) just roll their eyes, put up with it, and fly under the radar. The only good thing is that I haven't seen anyone pressured into participating in the frat boy antics if they don't want to.

Pros

Lutz treats interns very well. The pay is great, you can work as many hours as you want, you get free catered dinners 3-5 times a week at the office, and you have access to all of the friendly employees and partners at the office to learn from and connect with.

Cons

The training process could be improved.
