Pros

Unfortunately I have nothing good to say about the office. The work we do for the government is good and you can receive some satisfaction that you are helping our country but you will never receive any praise from your manager on a job well done.

Cons

It's tough being an ex-pat. The office does not help you with much and hangs you out to dry when it comes to getting your moving expenses paid. You will never get enough to move here you need about 10K to move. If you do not negotiate properly at the start no one will give you a pay raise when you have been here for a while so be aware that what you get at the start will have to systain you for your length of employment here. Some managers do not believe in giving pay raises or are just inept at helping you get a raise with corporate in DC. Our CEO is all about opportunities inside the company; promote and hire from within but let me tell you that very few receive promotions or can change jobs. It’s all on who you know and who likes you to get a pay raise; not what you have done. In my book I would just stay away from this company.

Pros

No good reason to work for MCDEAN if you have any other choice but if you do not have a choice these would be pros: Benefits are not that bad comparing to other companies; they do understand you need to take a time off; co-workers are great to work with

Cons

There is no communication at all; employees are humiliated; no salary increases at all; You are demoted without anybody telling you a word about your demotion; huge turnover; You have to give your fingerprint when you come to work and when you come and leave jobsite

Pros

They liked my work and the customer has genuine needs that provided some satisfaction. Germany is fun.

Cons

Poor compensation. The did not keep the deal in the written offer letter. Every chance they get, they use skeezy bookkeeping practices to avoid paying for moving expenses, travel and leave. It takes (on average) about $5,000-$10,000 to move to Germany. MCD reimburses about $7,000 of those....or say they will. It commonly takes 4-6 months to reimburse expenses and then denys claims according to obscure rules they don't explain. They offer three weeks leave, but expect 50 hour weeks minimum with no comptime. They say they have flextime, but require core hours between 8am and 5pm. They lie about the cost of living in Eurpoe, which is at least 20% higher than DC/NewYork. If you can't resist a chance to go to Germany, make sure you get the full moving expenses in cash up front and at least 30% higher salary than normal.
