Pros

compensation is reasonable for the market

Cons

if you are not in Buffalo you don't matter - so if you are relocating you may have a better experience or if you are in the retail sector there is a broader footprint and opportunities.

Pros

Employee benefits like 401k, generous paid time off, parental leave, good pay minimums and wide pay ranges. The company claims to be very employee-centric and encourage career development

Cons

Extremely antiquated and cumbersome systems still in place. Have to log everything, have to sign into everything over and over and getting support sometimes is like the blind leading the blind. Changes are poorly communicated and it feels like many operational policies are silly and redundant to mitigate risk.

Pros

Processing loans is easy. Opening up a basic checking or savings is easy. Big bank so if you are a good obedient soldier, you may go far.

Cons

M&T has not updated its basic systems in years. They are still using systems from the 80’s. They do claim to be technologically advanced but they are really behind. They also claim to focus on customers but they can’t support the claim. For instance, customers with debit card fraud can stay on hold for hours in order to speak to the “hotline”. Any kind of maintenance on accounts or address changes for businesses is like pulling teeth. As far as Management goes, they claim to seek feedback but reality is they do not want to hear it. Be careful if you accept a position! Keep your opinion to your self and you have to follow the chain of command. Working for them is very much based on HR style from the 80’s. You can never talk to your boss’s boss and God Forbid you express your honest opinion.
