Pros

They provided a good welcome reception when they acquired my previous employer.

Cons

MACOM acquired my previous employer. They proceeded to reduce funds for further development and remove all future stock and bonus compensation. When they decided to sell off a business unit they struggled to complete a deal in a timely manner, attempting to nickel and dime the purchaser and took a hands-off approach to communicating with them team.

As an organization, we continue to evolve and grow whether organically or by acquisition, building on the company's past successes to open the road to current and future opportunities that will benefit each of our stakeholders, and this includes welcoming our acquired employees to the Macom family of benefits and total rewards.

A lot of potential, but too many managers and too short-sighted

Pros

Depending on your department and supervisor, you have the potential to end up in a position where you can further your development and career. A lot of variety in terms of challenges. In general, the employees are remarkably friendly, come from diverse backgrounds, and are fun to work with on a day-to-day basis.

Cons

The company is very top-heavy in terms of management. It felt like there were dozens of VPs, between Senior and Executive levels, while the boots-on-the-ground type positions that need additional hires rarely got them. Some managers in the company Org Chart supervise only 1 person, sometimes even 0. There is a tendency to buy smaller companies and then either a) do a rush integration, or b) more or less neglect them. Either way usually ends with bitterness from employees at the newly purchased company. Salaries are not competitive, especially for the corporate world. If you don't work in the Lowell HQ, your career will not advance.
