Pros

High turnover rate due to poor management means you'll always have a job if you don't mind working crappy hours, little to no opportunity for advancement, and poor management.

Cons

Little to no opportunity for advancement, no support for learning new skills that would improve job performance. No forward thinking to improve workplace efficiency or any meaningful improvements in the workplace until something completely breaks or a lab result gets misreported. Even small improvements would go a long way. No continuing education beyond the bare minimum required to get the job done. The continuing education that is offered only goes towards meeting minimum industry standard requirements and has nothing to do with your actual job. Employees are treated as replaceable cogs in a machine. Employees are frequently talked down to as if they add little value to the company. Favoritism towards advancing certain people and not others. HR department is clueless. It's surprising some of the people in HR are still employed. It seems to be the only department with no oversight and no one breathing down your neck to get work done. Crappy hours. All shifts aside from those in HR and a few in management require you to work weekends. This can be draining on your social life. They used to offer a weekend differential, but that no longer exists because they rolled weekend workers pay into their base, so that now you have wild variations in salary for people performing the same job. People just coming into the company don't get paid near what someone who used to work both weekend days gets paid regardless if they are still working both weekend days.

Pros

Easy to get a job because of turnover

Cons

Things constantly change and not everyone is notified of them until it's too late. Some employees are given more power without a title, no opportunity for advancement within department, poor communication between management and employees, no learning opportunities are really given (or only given to one or two people). Working every Saturday. Even though our schedule changed to 40 hours a week, we still have to stay until the work is done. So, you may not put in 8 hours or you may put in 10 or 12, you never know. Not allowed to talk to your coworkers. Despite sitting in a breezy, freezing cold hallway where people frequently walk by and have their own conversations and disrupt work, you're not even allowed to ask a question. You're not even allowed to have your cell phone on your desk. The only phone available to use is the one at the managers desk which makes you feel like an idiot while you're standing at the desk discussing a personal emergency with someone on the phone.
