Pros
-I love working for METER Group because I get to go home every night knowing I made contributions to the company. Management has put a system in place that lets every employee see how important they are. -I'm given the chance to solve problems with my own intelligence. A problem or goal is set before me and I'm not watched like a hawk to get things done. No one tells me how to do anything, just what needs to get accomplished. On the flip side, my direct manager and others are there for me to access when I might need their help. -METER is family owned! The family runs the company in a way that will help them succeed now and into the future. They invite future generations to participate in the work and mentor those that want to make careers at METER. While I'm not a member of the ownership family in any way I appreciate what this means to me as an employee, that the company will not only be around for many more years but it will be run by a family that cares about what the company becomes. I've worked for other family-owned small businesses in the past and saw them get sold off to investors. METER has been around for almost 40 years. -Benefits are top notch and I've never had better. -Work-life balance is one of the greatest benefits we experience at METER. PTO comes quickly over the years worked and in a lump sum at the beginning of the year. As a salaried employee, I'm often working more than 40 hours a week but when I work way more my manager asks me to take a break. We are never expected to work weekends or holidays. Time off requests can be made on short notice.
Cons
-Diversity in a small rural town can be difficult and METER suffers a little in this area. However, they recognize the challenge and strive to hire the best talent possible, no matter what group that person is a part of. -METER is growing and that brings growing pains. In the past 5 years, employee numbers have more than doubled. There has been a merger. New markets have opened up. This brings success and growth but that can create a lot of change. Even when I support the changes and growth it can be difficult to deal with sometimes. -Even with great benefits salaries could be more competitive with other areas in the region.
